Let the learning begin…

5 October 2013

The much-awaited start to EducateFirst’s academic is finally here and the tutoring project was re-launched simultaneously across all learning centres. Although the project at the Dewsbury centre remains on hold for now, there has been an increase in demand by the community within the Dewsbury and Ravensthorpe areas and students travelled to one of the other centres in Leeds, Bradford or Huddersfield in order to attend the classes. This is fabulous news and testament to the hard work our tutors put in and the benefits students get out from the learning project.

We believe change can be a good thing – implementing change is the best way to determine whether it impacts positively on the learning outcomes of the students. Therefore, several changes will be implemented during the course of the year and we welcome feedback on how well these are received. One of the changes that has already been rolled out is the learning materials EducateFirst will be providing the students – these are now based on recent changes to the National Curriculum. Another change, or should we say an addition to our services, is the offer of A-level tuition classes in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Education is very much a learning curve, not just for the students, but also for the tutors and the management team. We are certain that we will continue to learn as we progress through the year, and we call on the support of the wider community in helping us deliver a service needed by local school children in your area.

The popularity of learning project is evident by the fact that many of our classes are full and there is already a waiting list across all centres for certain classes. Rest assured that the team is working hard to set up additional classes in parallel to accommodate the needs of students who registered late and missed out on a place. Please bear with us.

Despite some classes being oversubscribed, we have capacity in a few of the classes for Maths, English and Science for Key Stages 1 to 4. Please register online to reserve your place: www.educatefirst.co.uk/classes

Once again, we thank the tutors for their dedication, support and commitment to the learning project and look forward a rewarding academic year for all those involved.

  1. Tutoring classes at the Huddersfield centre has definitely helped me with my GCSEs. The teachers have really helped me a lot with my homework in maths and science and also helped me get ready for my exams. It only costs £6.25 for each lesson and I can pay for this myself so that my parents do not have to as they have plenty of bills to pay.
