EducateFirst gathers and processes your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Notice and in compliance with the relevant data protection regulation and law. This notice provides you with the necessary information regarding your rights and obligations, and explains how, why and when we collect and process your personal data.

1.1 We (EducateFirst Ltd) are an education service provider registered in England and Wales under company number 07410819.

1.2 We operate and provide our tutoring services from learning centres, currently within Yorkshire, UK. Our postal address is: EducateFirst Ltd, PO Box 400, Leeds, LS14 9ET.
 

 

2.0 Information we collect

2.1 By using our Website, you consent that we may collect and use any information you provide.

2.2 We processes your personal information to meet our legal, statutory and contractual obligations and to provide you with the service(s) you have registered for. We will never collect any unnecessary personal data from you and do not process your information in any way, other than as specified in this notice.

2.3 The type of personal data we collect may include:

  • Your name (or your child’s name if you are registering on their behalf)
  • Your date of birth (or your child’s date of birth if you are registering on their behalf)
  • Postal address
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Mobile telephone number
  • Educational details and requirements
  • Health and medical details (for children attending our learning centres)
  • Financial details for processing payments to and/or from EducateFirst.

2.4 We collect this information via:

  • Online registration forms
  • Paper registration forms
  • Telephone registration.

2.5 We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly obtain parental consent or remove the information.

3.1 Your personal data (or data relating to your child) are obtained through you with your specific consent for the purpose of registering to use our services. We do not obtain your information from any third parties.

3.2 You may provide us with your personal details via one or more of the following methods:

  • Paper registration forms
  • Telephone registration
  • In person at one of our learning centres.

Website, applications and software

3.3 We use technologies like cookies (small files stored by your browser), web beacons, or unique device identifiers to anonymously identify your computer/mobile device so that we can deliver a better user experience. Our systems also log information like your browser, operating system and IP address.

3.4 Geographic location: Although our systems may log your IP address when accessing our website, we do not use or collect your precise geographic location.

3.5 Unless you specifically provide us with your personal information (e.g. when completing an online registration form to use our services), we do not collect personally identifiable information about you when you use our website, applications or any software. In other words, we do not collect information such as your name, address, phone number or email address unless you specifically provide this information.

3.6 If you provide us with your financial details (e.g. credit/debit card details) for the purpose of making a payment, these details are used to process your payment via a secure vendor/platform (e.g. PayPal). We do not retain any of your financial details. Thus, you will need to provide your financial details for repeat payments.

3.7 Ad tracking: We do not allow advertising companies to collect data through our service for ad targeting.
 

 

4.0 How we use and share your personal data

General

4.1 EducateFirst takes your privacy very seriously and will never disclose, share or sell your data without your consent, unless required to do so by law.

4.2 By providing us with your details and/or other information, you agree that we may hold this information on our secure database.

4.2 Unless you request to remove all personal data, we may retain certain data indefinitely, but will remove any sensitive information, such as health/medical details, if you no longer use our services. You will need to provide any such sensitive information again should you wish to continue using our services in the future.

4.3 We do not send any marketing or promotional material. However, from time to time we may use your details (e.g. your email address or mobile number) to send you information relating to the service you signed up for (e.g. tutoring work opportunities [for tutors] or private tuition details [for parents/students]). We may also invite you to join our communications network, including social networking websites; you are under no obligation to join or accept such an invitation. You can also opt out from receiving any communication from us at any time by following the instructions at the end of the message or emailing us.

4.4 We do not share personally identifiable information (such as name, address, email or phone) with any third party without your consent. However, it may be necessary to share some of your details with our staff to ensure we are able to provide you with the service you have requested. In cases of emergency, we may be required to share some of your details with the emergency services (e.g. Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade) upon their request.
 

Children’s details

4.5 If you have provided details of your child(ren) for the purpose of receiving our educational services, our teaching and management staff will have access to your child’s records to enable them to do their jobs. From time to time it may be necessary to share some of this information with others involved in your child’s care. Anyone with access to your child’s records is properly trained in confidentiality issues and have a legal duty to keep their details secure.
 

Third-party organisations

4.6 We may use third parties to support us in providing our services and to help provide, run and manage our internal IT systems. For example, website hosting and management, data analysis, data back-up (including cloud-based storage) and security services. Your personal data may be stored or backed up on servers hosted by such third-party organisations.

4.7 We use secure and trusted third-party vendors (e.g. PayPal) to process your payments. None of your credit/debit card details are retained by EducateFirst.
 

Special circumstances

4.8 To operate our services, we also may make identifiable and anonymous information available to third parties in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your express consent
  • When we have a good faith belief it is required by law
  • When we have a good faith belief it is necessary to protect our rights or property
  • To any successor or purchaser in a merger, acquisition, liquidation, dissolution or sale of assets.

4.9 Your consent will not be required for disclosure in these cases, but we will attempt to notify you, to the extent permitted by law to do so.
 

 

5.0 Your rights

Access and porting

5.1 You can request to view any or all of your information we hold. In addition, you can request that your information be forwarded to a third party as well as be informed about any automated decision-making that we may use. Please contact us by email with your written request.

5.2 Where legally required, we will provide your information in an easily accessible format, usually within 1 month of your request and, where required, assist in transferring some of this information to third parties.
 

Rectify or delete

5.3 You have the right to rectify or update any of your information. Please contact us by email with your new/updated information.

5.4 You can also request to have any of your personal details we have on file deleted/erased at any time. Please contact us by email with your written request.
 

Object

5.5 In certain circumstances you have the right to object to the processing of your information based on our legitimate interests explained above. In such cases, we will cease processing your information unless we have legitimate grounds to continue processing (e.g. you continue to use our services) or where it is needed for legal reasons.

5.7 Where you have previously provided your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your information at any time by emailing us. Our obligations

5.11 We will respond to your request and confirm in writing any action we take. Please note that your information will only be deleted if you are no longer using our services. 6.2 All data are stored securely on password-protected computers and/or cloud-based storage located within the UK/EU.

6.3 We encrypt transmission of data on pages where you provide any personal or payment details.
