Each lesson lasts for 1 hour. Students requiring tuition in a single subject will attend the learning centre for 1 hour, two subjects for 2 hours, and three subjects for 3 hours.
Each lesson typically lasts for 1 hour (minimum). However, 1.5- and 2-hour lessons can also be booked (subject to the tutor's availability).
EducateFirst uses qualified teachers who specialise in specific subject areas. Many of our teachers are either currently working or have worked in schools. From time to time we also use tutors who may not have a teaching qualification, but have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to teach. In addition, we provide additional training/guidance to all our staff.
Background & Safety Checks:
All our tutors are checked to ensure they are certified to work with children and hold a valid Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) certificate. This ensures that our tutors have no criminal background or police record. In addition, we request our tutors are registered with The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). These additional measures are being brought into place to further protect your child. EducateFirst will ensure all its tutors fully comply with this requirement. Your child's security is of paramount importance to us and any tutor who fails to provide evidence of registration with the ISA will not be allowed to tutor your child.
Update: As of 1 December 2012, the CRB and ISA merged to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Certificates with the CRB logo are still valid and can be used by tutors.
